But if this movie sucks we'll eat our hats ...
We've been hearing a lot of people bitching about this movie (even though it hasn't been released yet) because it may not be ... the most pro-war movie in history.
Seriously folks, let's all get over ourselves, and I don't just mean right-wing war hawks, I mean everyone. The left is just as bad if not worse.
Movies are movies and politics is politics.
If you can't separate the two,
your lives may prove to be very dull. I know Jewish people who enjoyed Das Boot and I know of a neo-Nazi who enjoyed Schindler's List. I know a republican who thought Bob Roberts was funny. It's entertainment, nothing more. Some say that directors and actors who get into politics grossly misjudge their importantce in the universe, and if this is true, I don't feel we need to jusitify their stupidity by cheating ourselves out of a couple hours' worth of entertainment just to "punish" them ... as if somehow millionaires are affected by a few thousand of us dummies protesting their actions. This isn't the 60s. Nobody cares.
SO YEAH, this director knows what he's doing, and all the actors are talented to the point where even people who don't like them admit their talent, so COME ON! JUMP ON THE TEAM AND COME ON IN FOR THE BIG WIN!

UPDATE: THIS MOVIE WAS KICK-ASS, AND I DIDN'T FIND IT TO BE ANTI-WAR AT ALL, OR EVEN ANTI-MILITARY.
Call me crazy, but it made me want to join the French Foreign F***in' Legion. If any of the experiences in this movie made people not want to join the military, THEN THEY PROBABLY SHOULDN'T JOIN ANY F***IN' WAY.
Insert appropriate closing here, knuckleheads, depending:
HOO-AH (Army)
HOO-RAH (Marines)
HOO-YAH (Seals)
HAVE A F***IN' COOKIE! (Girls Scouts)
Welcome to the suck.
